While utilizing solar energy to run lights or part of an office building is becoming commonplace, many people are at a loss for how they too could be using solar energy to lead a greener lifestyle. Technological innovations in solar electricity and solar panels are quickly picking up speed, and so are the applications for the everyday consumer. Now more than ever, it’s easy to utilize solar energy in your own life, and we’re going to review just a handful of applications.
Solar Battery Chargers
Solar power can now be used by you to charge your portable electronics with 100% green energy from the sun. These devices, called solar battery chargers, are made to charge everything from your cell phone to your laptop and are hyper portable and simple to use. They have solar panels built in, and usually come with an internal rechargeable battery that allow you to leave the portable solar charger out in the sun or by a window to charge it. When you get home (or leave for your trip), you have a full charge ready. Simply plug it in to whatever you want to charge and it transfers the energy from the battery to your device. These are great because they allow you to drastically decrease the amount of power you use charging your portable electronics.
Household Solar Panels
Household solar panels often come in installation kits, which include all of the fittings you need in order to attach them to your house’s roof. When connected into your house’s electrical grid, these solar panels can provide green energy and enough power to handle everything from water heaters to televisions and lights. These kits are known to be able to pay for themselves over a few years because of the power that they save, and many households can actually generate enough electricity to sell some back to the power company for some extra money.
Now more than ever, it’s easy to use the sun’s renewable energy to live a greener lifestyle. The solar industry is just beginning to grow, so be sure to keep an eye out for new developments and products coming soon.
