The Lenmar PowerPort solar charger is built to utilize the sun’s energy to charge your mobile electronics whether at home or on the go. It will charge you cell phone, iPod, iPhone, MP3 player, GPS and more. At 10.9 ounces, it very lightweight, but it’s a bit more bulky than some of the other models, which is okay since it costs much less.
The Lenmar PowerPort has a built in rechargeable battery, meaning that you don’t have to have your portable electronic devices plugged into the solar charger while it’s in the sun in order to charge them (although you can). You can just leave the device in the sun, and then use it as a backup battery or a mobile charger when needed. When fully charged, it will provide up to 8 hours of power.
The PowerPort is one of the cheapest solar chargers available on the market, and performance wise, it is perfect for an emergency charger. It’s internal battery can only be charged up to 500 times though, much less than some of the other more expensive ones on the market. This means that this device, with semi-frequent use, will last up to a year and a half. Because of this, if you are looking to use a solar charger for an everyday wall outlet replacement, we suggest that you spend a bit more money on something that is made for that purpose.

This product would be good for people who spend lots of time outdoors, and can’t readily use a car or wall charger for their devices. Backpackers, fishermen, etc, would probably like this. Or if you want emergency power. Otherwise, you’re probably better off going with something else. As the packaging states, it’s “Emergency Cell Phone Power”.
